Penny Jar Prize
The Penny Jar Prize is an annual cash prize awarded to the best poem published in Half Drunk Muse that calendar year, as chosen by the editor-in-chief. All published poems are eligible for consideration except reprints from print journals. There are no reading or entry fees.
The prize amount is determined by the amount of change in the Penny Jar at the end of the year ($20 minimum); the prize amount is generally announced a month before the final issue is published.

The prize is awarded as a check in U.S. dollars, although alternate arrangements may be possible if the winner resides outside the U.S. Taxes, if any, are the responsibility of the winner.
