Half Drunk Muse Poetry

Swallow by Karina Borowicz

      One bent leg
of a bee, suspended in honey
the pared nail of a seed
afloat in foaming lemon juice
morning’s metallic edge
clenched between the teeth:

even a child could recognize it
for what it isn't
as it scratches the tongue:

the unsaid word
        alive, terrified
plummeting down the throat’s earthen tunnel.
