Half Drunk Muse Poetry

The Games People Play by C. Allen Rearick

The cherry tomatoes
I’ve picked
from my garden
sit silently
on my counter top in
a broken girdle
a sort of
oblong circle

I clandestinely hinge
my head around
the doorjamb
and watch them

spy on them
leer at them
plot to devour them

my carnivorous teeth
into their
smooth supple skin
suffering them
to death

the only way
to vindicate
from this
