and at some point
you will wake up to
find a swastika painted
on your front door

you will be given
a definition of god

will be asked
to denounce your own

and how much
of what i describe here is symbolic
and how much is literal?

i can take you to the woods
where the cheerleaders
were murdered

can show you
the missing girl's house
and wait while you ring the bell

i want to know how
her parents would measure
something relatively simple
like seven years but don't
have the balls to ask

i want to believe
the son of a bitch who
says he buried her bones

want to imagine
his last seconds will be
nothing but absolute
terror and blinding pain

i am a religious man
in my own way
