sex

Appeared in the 1999-2004 issue.

is sometimes a fresh poem
to be bandied about
freely
like words

sex is
fictive
a story
written yesterday

sex is
the flower vendor's voice
rising
like cigarette smoke
from the plaza
below
to snare
an early morning dream

sex is
the wet lips
of your friend's mouth

only love
spends without regard
to a bottom line
