One bent leg
of a bee, suspended in honey
the pared nail of a seed
afloat in foaming lemon juice
morning’s metallic edge
clenched between the teeth:
even a child could recognize it
for what it isn't
as it scratches the tongue:
the unsaid word
alive, terrified
